Cold Stone Creamery

After dinner, we adjourned to.... Cold Stone Creamery for some ice cream in this sweltering hot weather! Has always wanted to try this new kid on the block & finally did! Looking at the queue at just 7pm+, we were truly amazed. There was at least 15 people in the queue in front of us but I must say that the line moved pretty fast ;) Right now, there's a promotion to get a free waffle when you showed the staff the voucher under the DBS Indulge app if you are using an Iphone.

Queuing for our turn
After much deliberation (as there was a variety of flavors), we ordered the Founder's Favorite (Pecans, Brownie, Fudge & Caramel) for sharing. The ice cream was indeed creamy & rather "chocolately" due to the brownie & fudge used. After a few spoonfuls, I found it to be too sweet for my liking...hmm...
Founder's Favorite

I know of friends who raved about this place but honestly speaking, I am definitely not a fan of either here or Marble Slab (which was featured in my earlier posting sometime back). Call me old-fashioned but I still very much prefer my good old traditional ice cream flavors & the lighter textures! ;)

Cold Stone Creamery is located at 181 Orchard Road #01-10 Orchard Central & you can check out their website @ www.coldstonecreamery.com.sg

Ootoya Japanese Restaurant ~ 150511

Couple weeks back, I was with BBC in town & as it was nearing dinner time & I was craving for some Jap, we decided to head to Ootoya @ Orchard Central. This was our 2nd time there & my 3rd (went to the Suntec outlet once). Though we were rather early (around 6pm), the restaurant was already packed & we had to wait around 15 minutes to get a table seat. By then, BBC was FAMISHED!

As I heard that the steamed rice with Mutsu bay scallops was highly recommended, I decided to go with the Torotoroni set ($18) which came with the rice as well as simmered egg soup with tofu, chicken meat & some vegetables. The steamed rice was indeed a good choice! I simply love the fragrance & texture of the rice that I can simply eat it on its own! The scallops (there were 3 of them) were fresh & succulent topped with yummy miso sauce. Now I can fully understand why this is a HOT favorite of this place! As for the simmered egg soup, I found it to be slightly too bland for my liking & also, I did not really enjoy the texture of it. It was the starchy type of soup (I was expecting & craving for hot soupy type of soup that day) so it did not really went down well with my taste buds. The soup was also not as hot as we wanted it to be (perhaps due to the raw egg beaten into it upon serving). However, BBC liked it more than I do & he helped me to finish it up! ;)

BBC ordered the Katsy Jyu ($16) & he thoroughly enjoyed his food (Lol, maybe the food tasted really great or he was simply too famished even for words) LOL. I tried a piece of the chicken cutlet & liked it. The meat was thick & yet, it was not overcooked & managed to retain the juiciness. Woo, I loved the generous servings of eggs on top of the meat too! ;)

I remembered the 1st time that I was here (with BBC as well), I fell in love with their complimentary side dish served with each set. With each side dish, there was a slice of lotus roots, a piece of chicken meat & my fav of all, a piece of radish! I loved the sweetness & juiciness of the radish & since BBC does not really like it, I got to eat his share of the radish too (while I gave him my piece of the chicken meat since I am not a huge meat eater). Am indeed a happy gal! =)

Right now, Ootoya is having a 10% discount off the total bill if you are using an UOB credit card for payment (which I did). If you are looking for authentic & affordable Jap food, Ootoya is definitely a place to visit! But be sure to be there early to beat the crowd =)

Ootoya is located at:

- 3 Temasek Boulevard #B1-057 Suntec City Mall Singapore

TWG

Hi folks, I am back! If you are wondering where I have been, I did not go anywhere. It was just that recently, my beloved dog of 13 yrs+ passed away & I was & am still trying to come to terms with it. Having said that, I thought is high time that I returned to my posting to preoccupy myself which I have a couple of entries which are so long overdue! *blushes*

After the lovely dinner @ Pizzeria Mozza, we decided to walk around the mall & looked around for some desserts ;) Whilst walking around the mall, we came across this TWG which seemed to have popped out from nowhere. LOL. Both of us have been wanting to try TWG for the longest time but did not get the chance too. If you have read my earlier posting, you would have read how I was "snubbed" at the TWG @ ION Orchard & hence has not tried it yet! Since there were not many people at this TWG, I decided to give it a 2nd chance we decided to head there for tea & desserts :)
TWG @ MBS
We ordered the "Emperor's White Garden" tea (which had calming effect) & Creme brulee (both recommended by the friendly staff). The tea was pretty light & fragrant with the smell of jasmine & rose. I love the teacup & the cute looking teapot. Haha, as this was the 1st time we were here, we did not realize that the tea was meant for just one pax & not really ideal for sharing as there was no refill of hot water! Oops, now we know ;)

Lovely Teacup

The interesting thing about the creme brulee here is that it came in 2 tea flavors ~ Phuguri Darjeeling & Vanilla Bourbon Tea! ;) The texture was rather creamy & we both preferred the Phuguri Darjeeling to the Vanilla one as it was less sweet & gave a nice fragrant tea aftertaste!
Can u guess which one is which? ;)
Overall, we enjoyed this mini tea cum dessert session & I would definitely consider coming back here to try the food & ice cream (yes, my Fav!) =)
